
Murugesh Nagaraju
As the Head of Department (Pupil Management) in Pei Hwa Secondary School, Muru led the department in drawing up effective strategies to meet the organization’s vision, which resulted in it being well-known for its strong discipline emphasis in the Sengkang area. In his role, he also coordinated and conducted several Strategic Planning sessions, and was a key player in setting priorities, strengthening operations to ensure that staff and stakeholders worked in cohesion toward common goals and responding to the organisation’s direction in a changing environment.
As part of Performance Management, he mentored, coached and evaluated staff to secure high quality professional work. He was also conferred the National Day Commendation Medal in 2014, for distinguishing himself through commendable performance and conduct, as well as for significant efficiency, competence and devotion to his call of duty.
Muru was a professional Development Officer with Teachers Network, MOE from 2002 to 2004. He facilitated Learning Circles (LC), a professional development tool, guiding teachers in action learning, reflective practice and mindset change. He directed the publication of LC Handbook for all schools and presented LC to the Education Bureau in Hong Kong. In addition, he conducted workshops and led LC Facilitators’ training.
Muru also emceed the Teachers’ Conference in 2005, where the Guest of Honour was the Minister of Education. He was awarded the Ministry of Education Service Excellence Award in 2004, which recognizes staff who are passionate in their service delivery.
